Homemade Butter

Homemade doesn’t have to be hard and you can feel better about what’s in your house knowing what’s in it. I decided to start making more and buying less crap. Butter was an easy first and so easy!

Put some heavy cream in a bowl and using an electric mixer, start mixing! Start on the lowest speed and raise it as your heavy cream thickens. This took about 20 minutes, but to be fair, I took a few breaks to rest my hand. If you have kids, have them take turns. Once it’s solid and the buttermilk has separated, you are where you need to be! (If you have a food processor or stand mixer, it can go much faster.) Using cheesecloth, squeeze all the liquid out and rinse in ice water.

You can add in salt or other herbs of your choice! This can be stored on the counter, no need to refrigerate. We go through a mason jar every week!
